September Newsletter

Nick Waton
We start this newsletter with the very sad news of the death of one of our Trustees, Nick Waton. He died very suddenly at his home on 26 June 2023.
Our thoughts are with Nick’s wife Jane (also a Trustee) and their son Jamie (a long time Toy Library member and now a most valued Volunteer).
Nick joined the Baby Equipment Loan Service and Toy Library as a Management Committee member in 2018 and became a Trustee in June 2019
He volunteered to be the Project’s Safeguarding Lead in 2020 and ensured that Staff, Management Committee and Volunteers were familiar with the Safeguarding Policies and that they undertook training to an appropriate level.
Earlier in the year, Nick helped facilitate several Stay and Play sessions at the Islamic Cultural Centre. The children easily engaged with him and enjoyed his input to the activities.
We miss Nick’s warmth, friendship, gentle nature and his commitment to the Baby Equipment Loan Service and Toy Library.

Halloween
Just a reminder to our members old and new...we have a fangtastic selection of Halloween costumes for loan at the toy library which is included in your membership. This saves you ££'s (and amazing for the environment) on something that is usually only worn a few times at this time of year. You are able to view and reserve these online via our Lend Engine - just remember you will still need to book an appointment to collect them.

Funding
We are so grateful to have received funding from William Webster Charitable Trust - these funds have allowed us to purchase thermos flasks and reusable lidded cups for our toddler groups.

Karbon Homes
Do you know a family who lives in North Tyneside who is a Karbon Homes resident? Are YOU a Karbon Homes resident? We are very pleased to be working in partnership with Karbon Homes. We can provide equipment (and other items) to make your Karbon home child safe and friendly. Please get in touch for more details on this.

Gift Memberships
Stuck for ideas for a birthday gift? Want a "different" gift idea for Christmas? Do you know someone who is having a baby? We sell gift memberships £7 (2 toys) £14 (4 toys) etc. The receiver of the gift membership must live in North Tyneside and provide 2 proofs of address on their first visit. Please get in touch if you would like to purchase one.

AGM - Save the Date!!
We are holding our Annual General Meeting this year on Friday 10th November 2023 1pm-2:30pm. This will be at the project based in Footprints Day Nursery.
We would like to invite everyone to come along and find out what we have been up to over the last year, and share a cuppa and some cake with us. If you would like to come along please let us know so that we can accommodate numbers (children are very welcome too).
